MF DOOM & Westside Gunn Announce Collab Album: WESTSIDEDOOM

There’s only one rapper more recognizable wearing a mask then without, the rap legend Daniel Dumile. He’s a man of many names – Zev Love X, King Geedorah, Metal Fingers – but now a days you can just call him DOOM. Undertaking a super villain persona every time he is on stage, the metal masked MF DOOM has been an unrefutably strong force in the rap game for as long as most of us can remember. Hailing from London, England, Dumile has one of the richest flows as well as one of the longest running rap catalogues that the world has ever seen. Delivering venom and truth on every beat, it’s no wonder the MC still has a place in the game at the ripe age of 46. But if you think he’s stopping anytime soon, you’d be wrong. DOOM has just released word of his next album, a collaborative effort between him, New York rapper Westside Gunn and production by both ALCHEMIST and DARINGER. Titled WESTSIDEDOOM, it looks like the masked metal menace is at it again.

DOOM’s collaborations of the past have always exceeded our expectations. Madvillainy, his collaboration album with producer Madlib is even widely rated as one of the top rap albums ever made. This new collaboration is exciting as the group consists of not only producers but also another MC. Westside Gunn is a smaller rapper, but after this album he’s sure to be catching a whole lot more attention. Westside, real name Alvin Worthy, announced the album via his Instagram, and I for one could not be more excited.

DOOM has an incredible reputation for high quality albums, couple that with a raw production team and an up and coming rapper ready to blow up, the new album is unlikely to disappoint. Westside Gunn shared what he thought of the album, saying on his Instagram post “this is one of the illest projects I’ve ever heard when u think ART, this is it the RAWEST, FLYEST, GRIMIEST shit you’ve ever heard IN YA LIFE.” The post does not outline a specific date for the albums release, instead saying that the day is coming soon, and boy can that soon not come soon enough. For now we will just have to rely on the short snippet released off one of the tracks titled “Gorilla Monsoon.”
