The east coast has some big shoes to fill this festival season after Coachella's lineup being released, and The Governors Ball Music Festival very well seems to be the best contender. On June 2nd, 3rd and 4th, headliners like Tool, Chance the rapper, Phoenix, and Childish Gambino set the stage for one of New York’s biggest music festivals. Other artists include Lorde, Flume, Wu-Tang Clan, Wiz Khalifa, Logic, Cage The Elephant, and surprisingly Skepta, the well known English grime artist who has been denied multiple visas to the US.
The lineup isn't the only thing that The Governors Ball Music Festival has going for it. Between the music, art, delicious variety of food, fully functional mini golf course, (yes i said mini golf) and a plethora of lawn games there will be more than enough fun for everyone. There will be four golf courses set up with 36 holes, water hazards, caves and rock formations, as well as a few other surprises! With cornhole, ladder ball, bocce ball, and life-size connect four, you will surely be able to find a game that suits your needs.
Even if you don't have the pockets to afford the $300 GA ticket right now, this festival is definitely one to consider for years coming. Past lineups have not disappointed and the festival has been growing exponentially over the past 7 years. It is a family friendly environment, children under the age of 5 receive free admission, and tickets prices can be anywhere from $275-1000 plus fees to meet all levels of luxury.
The festival also does its fair share of contributing to their city. Gov Ball Gives Back is a festival volunteer program partnered with local NYC not-for-profits organizations to help those in NYC who need it most. New Yorkers interested in giving back can earn a 3-day GA ticket to the 2017 Governors Ball Music Festival by volunteering at local not-for-profit programs. GBGB 2017 will be partnering with NYC soup kitchens, pantry programs and Randall’s Island Park Alliance to help reduce hunger and improve the lives of New Yorkers in need
The early bird tickets release January 6th at 12pm and are expected to sell out quickly, so be ready if you’re going to attend the incredibly stacked 3 day festival in the Big Apple.
