August is Filled with New Rap Music

Diving head first into fall as August sets in, the already musically stacked summer only gets better and better. Albums, singles, music videos, and even more tour announcements, August is going to hold it’s own against June and July this year. Just within the first week of this beautiful fall month, several huge announcements and releases have dropped. As I’ve already written about this month, the new addition to the Cozy Tapes series is among the list of highly anticipated music. However, stunning announcements about future releases do not make up the entirety of the hype built up throughout August thus far, for newly released music additionally takes a lot of the limelight.

The list on new releases is a long one, and often one hard to keep up with. Starting with the release of Ugly God’s new album The Booty Tape. The XXL Freshman, Ugly God, released his album early last week, and is for the most part self produced, something he refers to as his greatest musical skill. Along with doing most of the hard work himself, the tape only has one feature, which highlights his own skills and flows rather than anyone else’s.

Singles were also very popular throughout the first weeks of August. Rae Sremmurd dropped the catchy and cleverly named “Perplexing Pegasus”, Juicy J and Offset released the upbeat and exemplary “Flood Watch”, and last but not least Chris Brown put out “Pills and Automobiles” featuring Yo Gotti, Kodak Black, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. As artists continue to collaborate more and more, it is no surprise when features such as A$AP Rocky, Flatbush Zombies, and Joey Bada$$ are all prevalent on A$AP Twelvyy’s newest project, 12.

The list of new releases goes on and on, made up of Lil Wayne, Wale, G Eazy, A$AP Ferg & Migos, Gucci Mane, and Rick Ross.

We are barely two weeks into August and artists have shown no signs of slowing down with the new releases. It’s likely no matter what sort of rap you listen to, you’ve found a couple bangers to close out the summer to.
