It’s time to go all in on Bronsoliño. Queens, New York rapper Action Bronson has announced the release date of his anticipated mixtape Blue Chips 7000 to be June 23rd. The chef-turned-rapper, well-known for his love of fine foods and powerful pot, will be dropping the third album in his Blue Chips series - and he’s already released a song from the tape.
The artist who coined himself “Mr. Baklava” has been busy lately with a whopping three television shows – one yet to be aired - on Viceland. The philosophical ex-sous-chef has been spending his days traveling the world, eating exquisite foods for his hit show Fuck, That’s Delicious, and hanging out in front of a green screen smoking mean green for his other popular show, Traveling the Stars: Action Bronson and Friends Watch ‘Ancient Aliens’.
“Let Me Breathe”, the first song off his new project – and first complete project since 2015’s Mr. Wonderful – features Bronson spittin’ about the crazy situations he usually finds himself in over a Harry Fraud produced beat, one of Bronson’s favorite sound engineers. Originally shared through a May interview with Zane Lowe via Apple Beats 1 Radio, Bronson told Lowe, “This is off the new album, finally”, adding that he’s been sitting on two year’s worth of music “like a little chickadee”.
Bronson also released another song, “Mr. 2 Face” April of last year, while filming in Jamaica for his show Fuck, That’s Delicious; many fans think it’ll be on Blue Chips 7000 as well. Considering the album has been pushed back so many times, he might have left the song on the cutting room floor considering how much time has passed since then.
The album is going to feature vocals from Rick Ross, Big Body Bes, and Mayhem Lauren, among others. Bronson expressed his displeasure with the album’s holdup over the last year, tweeting last month, “PUT MY MOTHERFUCKING ALBUM OUT.” He’s also working on his debut book Fuck, That’s Delicious: An Annotated Guide to Eating Well, and that’s slated to hit bookshelves in September.
