’Twas the night before Kushmas, and all through the rocks…
Cervantes Masterpiece, a Denver-based venue, along with entertainment powerhouse AEG are hosting an 8 hour show at Colorado’s flagship venue for ‘420 Eve'. Ever since the 2014 legalization of recreational marijuana, the late-April afternoon has grown into an unofficial state holiday. This April 19th, catch headlining artists Method Man, Redman, and Flatbush Zombies, alongside many other supporting acts celebrating at red rocks. The concert will run from 4:15 PM to midnight, with general admission tickets selling for $45, and VIP for $150.
In 2013, 2014, and 2015, Cervantes Masterpiece sponsored a 420 show on Denver’s Welton Street, MC’d by legendary stoners Method Man and Redman. In 2016, the event got promoted to the iconic Red Rocks venue. With supporting acts like Joey Bada$$ and Dizzy Wright, the show was a smashing, sold-out success; we have high expectations for the 2017 show.
The 90’s rappers set to headline the event are known for their unforgettable shows. The duo have been working together for years, with two studio albums, a soundtrack, and a mixtape to show. Although Method Man isn’t the most well-known member of the Wu-Tang Clan’s, he’s said to be one of their best performers, and the charisma resulting from their 20 year friendship certainly shows on stage.
Compared to Method and Red, Flatbush Zombies are refreshingly young. The three guys from Flatbush, Brooklyn in New York formed in 2010 and have been producing mind-bending psychedelic rap ever since. The supporting acts at this year's 420 Eve on the Rocks include Curren$y, Futuristic and RDGLDGRN.
Colorado has a number of fun activities planned for this year’s 4/20. Snoop will pay his annual visit, headlining a concert at Red Rocks competitor Fiddlers Green amphitheater with Atlanta rapper Future. Wiz and Lil Wayne will have their regular show too, in addition to the countless concerts held throughout the state. There will also be the first official ‘Colorado Cup’, a THC oriented competition for growers and shop. We’re expecting our fair share of high times this April for ‘420 Eve’!
