With countless sneakers releasing as well as a Supreme collab with the late graphic artist, M.C. Escher, the first week of May will be one for the books. Ranging from new Adidas boost runners to a full line of Nike basketball shoes, the market will be flooded with countless coveted editions - perfect for a wardrobe addition.
Leading off the week's sneaker releases was an addition to the Ace 16+ Ultra Boost line by Adidas, a new colorway titled “Champagne”, featuring a cream upper with navy stripes. Releasing on May 3rd, in extremely limited quantities as is tradition, latercustomers will be sure to find the shoe on eBay, but the lofty price of $190 is sure toincrease greatly on the resale market. An easier cop online would soon follow on the 4th, when the new colorway of the Nike Vapor Max dropped: Pale Grey. Also priced at $190, both runners would be the talk of the sneaker community for the time being, but the real excitement would be yet to release until Saturday, May 6th.
Finishing up the sneaker side of this week’s releases, two silhouettes and 5 colorways hit Adidas shelves. The first being the KITH exclusive, Adizero Prime Boost LTD, releasing in three colorways. The Mystery Blue, Energy Red, and Olive Green color schemes were all priced at $200. The new runner, featuring the popular boost sole, appears to draw inspiration from the Ultra Boost Uncaged model, but is an entirely new silhouette nonetheless.
These new runners didn’t release without competition, as the highly anticipated Pharrell Williams X Adidas collab released right alongside them. Named, the “Tennis Hu”, following the trend of Pharrell’s Adidas line, the shoes dropped in two colorways, with many more on the way. Drawing extremely obvious influence from one of the most classic shoes of all time, the Stan Smith, the Tennis Hu has the dots and distinct color accents. The green colorway of the shoe takes the Primeknit model of the classic shoe, giving it more of an athletic look, playing right into current street style. The model, only releasing for $130, has had several other color schemes leaked, and looks like it has a running for the go-to summer shoe of 2017.
Supreme featured a collab with late graphic artist, M.C. Escher on Thursday, releasing seven pieces of their own clothes and seven collaborated pieces. This drop Included a t-shirt, long sleeve, hoodie, trench coat, shorts, and even a camp cap, with the Dutch artist’s mathematically inspired ideas and graphics scattered throughout the collaboration. Even in the midst of the Supreme’s SS17 season, they wouldn’t be the only one to make waves collaborating with an artist; Revenge released a clothing line with nonother than XXXTENTACION. This line includes hoodies, t-shirts, a pair of shorts, and even a hat.
As you’re reading this, most of the items listed above are probably sold out. However, eBay, Grailed and other resale websites will hopefully have the products you missed out on. If you were indeed quick enough to check out in time, your Cinco de Mayo weekend was most likely a huge success.
