WUBBALUBBADUBDUB! The wait is over, and much to the joy of fans worldwide, our favorite galactic travelers are back on the screen. Despite misleadingly optimistic claims from the production team, Mr. Poopybutthole was serious about the year and a half long wait before the dynamic duo’s return. Last night, April Fools Day ironically enough, the hit animated TV series’ third season premiered, unannounced! While many viewers expected it to be a prank, much like the last time we received news of season 3: in February, a sneak peek was released that turned out to be a “Rick Roll”. Was the unannounced release an April Fools prank, or just a lack of effort on the marketing team? We aren’t sure, but all that matters is we’ve been reunited at last with our beloved heroes as they journey through space and time.
Season 2 concluded on an exceptional cliffhanger, with Rick turning himself into the Galactic Federation and the Smith family returned to an alien-governed Earth. Harmon assured viewers that this incident wouldn’t dominate the season, and Morty will be reunited with his incarcerated grandfather. Sure enough, in the new episode, named The Inside Out, Rick finds his way to freedom, and while we don’t know what to expect from season 3 (aside from 14 episodes instead of the traditional 10!), a few things are clear: Rick is just as dark and crazy as ever, Morty has matured, and Rick is gonna do whatever it takes to get some more “Mulan” themed McNugget sauce.
